Where could you get the answers to your questions without asking, candy thrown to you for the right answers and valuable tips for life after graduation? At “Cap and Compass: Apartment Searching and 1st Day on the Job,” held last Thursday February 28th in Ness Auditorium.

“The first day of work is similar to day one in kindergarten,” said Andy Ferguson, Cap and Compass’ guide. “Except there is happy hour and everyone is shaving,” Ferguson continued. He related this to opening HMO’s or PPO’s and filling out W4’s. He stressed the importance of being observant and using both business dining etiquette and appropriate office attire. Ferguson discussed all of the challenges recent graduates face in ‘life after graduation,’ such as choosing common sense in the real world.

“He was so funny and witty when he talked about real life situations,” said senior Natasha Troicky. “We picked Cap and Compass as a lecturer because they were so organized, had a good presentation, and we knew they would be able to relate to students well,” said Sarah Freytag, V.P. of Union Board, which sponsored the event.

If you missed last Thursday’s seminar the Cap and Compass guide book, life after school. explained, is available online at CapandCompass.com.
